Identify this specisis

Post by Ray1214 »

I hope mustafa has the answer, but I bought a half dozen cherry shrimp from a bunch of planted tank enthusaists here in atlanta. One of my shrimp looks like a cherry shrimp but its coloration is browning ( Still kinda red like a cherry though) in my tank. It looks like it has filter feeder claws though. The guy I got it from (this is a Petland in Duluth, Georgia) says that sometimes the shrimp gets mixed up in their tanks and he thinks it is a "Wood" shrimp. It colored up to blend in with the current inhabitants but I am concerned that I may not be meeting its needs. They are in an eclipse 3 tank with dwarf cories and one sparkling gournamis and about 6 plants.
I am guessing he is right about the wood shrimp since it just sits on the drift wood and waves his claws in the water, and the other cherries seem to relish the flake foods and spirulina. BTW, he calls in a ninja shrimp since it camoflages and thinks it is turning brown since his favorite spot is on driftwood which is brown.
Will this turn into one of those big shrimp?

Although a picture would be great, it sounds like a type of filter shrimp if it is just sitting there and "waving" his/her claws in the water. In that case, yes, it will become a large shrimp.
