but my one suggestion would be, a sponge over the intake might be easier in the long run (I've messed with making a cover out of netting too and sponge IMO is definitely better to work with). I don't know how small the holes on the media bags are, but shrimplets are quite tiny, so thought I should at least mention it, but of course it's your call.

Gunmetal & Mustafa: Ok, I was at the right place at the right time... I caught a pic of one my the cherry reds on the media bag I cut and wrapped over my filter intake... so this baby shrimp is just a couple of weeks older than when I got 'em from Mustafa... will newborns get sucked in by this?

Hi Quake, your Cherries seem to be developing a nice red color! I see a real difference from the first pics you had. The next thing that will happen is the females will start developing the yellow saddle.

It does look like your mesh is fine enough to keep shrimplets out. It's too bad about the minor restriction of the water flow though.
