would planaria kill cherry shrimps?

Post by imisky »

hey guys, i just had a loss of some cherry shrimps...well more like all died but 1...so heres the thing ive read on some websites and have friends with experience that planaria kills cherry shrimps or just any kind of shrimps due to there toxin on there skin.

so i found that i had an planaria infestation in the tanks that my cherry shrimps were in...so i stuck guppy fry in there...and 4 days later the guppies all died...at the same time killing off 14 of my 15 cherry shrimps

have anyone else had problems with planaria??

as my other friends hvae lost 150+shrimps due to planarias

as far as i know, planaria and shrimp can coexist together. i don't know if planaria are the cause of your shrimp deaths, but you may want to consider you water parameters first. any hint of ammonia may cause your shrimp to die. next you should consider any sources of stress. this includes water changes, additions/removal of plants, driftwood, etc.

I've had planaria in my cherry shrimp tank for about 6 months, with no apparent problems with the shrimp.

Some day I'll get around to baiting them out and reducing feeding to starve them off.
