Can anybody tell me, what type of shrimp is this one...

Post by Messedar »

It was brought to me by a friend who told me "I bought You a new Amano :)"

But this baby start to grown very fast, soon it ate some of my tank inhabitants, and cut all plants. Now it is alone, and still growing. I would like to breed her, but don't know the type. After searching, I found some similiar, but not that big.

If anyone can help me - I would be grateful.

Looks like a boy, by the way :D I think.... my female's claws are much smaller. Then again, she's had to regrow them in the past.
If you already know it's a girl you've probably seen it produce unfertilized eggs though.

Lots of literature on this species because they're a human food crop.

Edit: You know on second thought, that is a female
after looking at my male, those claw arms are way too short to be a male unless they're regrowing.

Picture doesn't show the color of the prawn, so I'm not sure if it's the same species or not but.......

You can buy prawns at your local Petco (not that I shop there, or anything.... only in an emergency ). They are cool, but very aggressive. Oh... an airstone is a MUST with the Petco prawns; mine broke while I was at work and bye bye prawns. I cried.
