Bamboo shrimp & 10 gallon tank.

Post by Constantine24 »

I have just finished fishless cycling my 10 gallon tank, I really like shrimp even more than fish so I've set it up with placid fish like Neon Tetras, so that any shrimp would feel safe. I really like Bamboo shrimp and I've set my tank up with an Aquaclear 30 power filter, and and Ario 3 airpump specifically for that purpose. Is my 10 gallon going to be too small for a Bamboo shrimp no matter what I do?

No, not at all, especially if you pick smaller ones. I have 3 in a 10 gallon tank and have no troubles.

BTW- The "search" should be used before posting. This is about the third such question like this in about a week.

Yes, but in that post Gunmetalblue stated that 20 gallons and up was good, so there was a difference of opinions in that post. I wanted some reassurance, you gave it to me, thanks.

I just added a new wood shrimp to my community tank. I've always had just one in there. When i put the new one in there the old one (which is bright red and much much smaller) seemed to behave aggressively towards the new one. Does this usually happen? Are they trying to mate or something? Is this a problem?

They push & shove for the best filtering locations, but they won't hurt eachother. Mating only occurs around molting time, not when new shrimp are introduced. No need to worry. These are very peacefull shrimp.
