Hmmm. I find Ghost shrimp to be one of the easier to keep. I just keep the water clean and feed them sinking goldfish food. I've had a batch since November and was even able to breed them.
thats why it is odd. the ghost shrimp go for .05-.29 each so they are super cheap. but most fish stores around here will not carry them anymore since they say most of them die. they are raised like feeder goldfish, so be eaten and live maybe a week. but they are raised so poorly. i only wish i could find some decent ghost shrimp they are striking specimins. i cant believe they raise them as feeders only
Watch ebay once it warms up. I bought a box of 100 for $10, but the shipping took it to $40 total. About half of thise were females with eggs. I tooks the ones I thought were the best, and surplussed the rest to my local LFS. They were happy to swap me for other stuff I needed. They sell loads of live food, so they turn over quickly.
um yea some guy named bestgiftidea or something sales 100 ghosts for $10 on ebay. i might have to try to buy them, all i ask is for some healthy ones to breed . yea its cold as heck so ill have to wait till the summer i guess to buy them, otherwise they will sit in front of my house all day in 20 degree weather.
Not much warmer over here on the east side of the big lake. another LFS just received some very large ( grass shrimp ) . just waiting for the local fish club to hold there spring auction so i can clear some of my tanks , so i can get some of those SNOW BALL'S.
good idea, i should check out the local clubs or see when they have a fish auction. any ideas on how to find these guys? i did a search on the net but didnt find much local to me
