I believe the shrimp problems were reported when these plants "melted" away in one way or another, thereby releasing something into the water that affects the shrimp.

But again, these are just reports and nothing has been verified yet. I don't keep any of these plants so I can't really confirm one way or another.

I am new to this shrimp thing. I am more of a plant/guppy person. About a year ago, I had a RCS hitchike its way into my heavily planted 180 gallon tank. Heavily planted with crypts and anubius (among others). I saw this little guy 2 months after getting those plants. Well, every year I do a massive overhaul on my plants by ripping them all out of the gravel, pruning them (in the water) and then replanting. Serious water changes and gravel vacuuming are all included in the overhaul. Well, happy to report that Mr. shrimp still thinks he owns the place and is busily swimming around. So, I got him some friends at a local LFS - don't plan on seeing them for a couple of months either. So I am getting some more from Mustafa tomorrow. So to answer your question on the anubias/crypt poisoning. I would say not.

I have not had any problems keeping Bamboo, CRS and Ghost-Palaemonetes paludosus-Shrimp with various Anubius and Crypts.

I kept Tiger shrimp in a 75 liter tank that was full of Anubias and had major losses. I didn´t have a clue as to why they died until I read abot Plant/shrimp-incompatability. The anubias have been replaced with Javamoss and the shrimp ( the few remaining ones...) are breeding and no more deaths have occured.

If it had anything do do with the anubias is unclear, however I have never seen any negative effects with cryptocorynes.

I can add that my water is alkaline which the Tigershrimp is Not supposed to like, so whether it was the plant or the incompatable water that killed them is uncertain.

Tiger's aren't mean to do well in alkaline water.

What's the PH?

How long have you kept the remaining shrimp in alkaline water?

Are the shrimp active and breeding well?

I wonder if shop sold tigers will be able to tolerate more alkaline water like neons?

You'll be lucky if any shop sold tiger shrimp surive long enough for you to enjoy them. They are all wild caught so they are not any more adaptable then their counterparts still living in the wild.
