not much detailed information about invertebrate disease as yet
any research has focused on farmed food groups

there are many bacterial conditions known in marine crustaceans (these are believed to affect similarly the freshwater species)

shell disease - usually secondary to poor water can be caused by a myriad of bacteria
paramoeba protozoan infections , destroys nervous tissue leading to 'limp lobster syndrome'

specific freshwater problems include
crayfish plaque, a fungal infection of the softer body parts
porcelain disease which appears to be more common in australian crays due to a microsporean infection

most of these conditions have no specific proven treatment as yet

it helps a bit, but i wouldnt recognise any of them

the question was more aimed at fish-shrimp diseases/parasites, ones that will harm both creatures

dont believe there are
most pathogens are speifically adapted to do a job in a particular type of host tissue

some of the bacteria involved in shell disease sound like they would cause fin rot/mouth fungus/body ulcer type situations

most viral, protozoan diseases are species specific

There is just not enough data about shrimp diseases and shrimp in general to say one way or another.

viewtopic.php?t=1386&sid=6c245f8485368c ... 9d8318dbf3
Is a disease?
Im thinking it was just old, but thought id ask in this thread since 'fishgeek' seems to know quite abit about shrimp diseases.
