My presentation (Matteo from Italy)

Post by Matteino^82 »

Hi to all!I'm matteo, 24 years old from italy...
I love all the types of neocaridina and i have a 25 liters tank with some Neocaridina Red cherry (probably now they are 25-30, many of them juveniles)..My little tank is this:

i have some question for you...
I'm just looking for a new tank 60x35x35 cm (70 liters) and i'm wondering if i can put one other species o neocaridna with the red cherries...(which species??)

In my future tank i will use:
-CO2 plant
-fertilisation by seachem (i want to grow hemiantus callitrichoides and other difficoult plants)
-water with pH=7 and kH=4-5

Do you think it will be ok for the shrimps?
bye!!!

ps this site is great!!i have to read all the past topics!!!:)))

Only for the short term. At first, everything wil be fine with lots of babies. After a while (maybe 6 months) the cherries will die one by one until you have none. Water tests will say nothing is wrong.

Lose the C02 & the ferts, or lose the shrimp. Ferts in general are bad for any shrimp. If you want to use C02, get an acid loving shimp. See the shrimp varieties page.

:cry: that's orrible thing for me!!!:(
Nobody here in italy told me this thing about the ferts...i hope it would be no problem...
So the fact is that the ferts are like venom that work slowly in monts until cherry die? (sorry for the bad english)..

Can i see some tanks made by this forum user's so i can see how to do something right without ferts or co2?
:))
bye and thank you so much!!

i dont. have you tryed the search feture on the forums with keyword as seachem or plant fertalizer? i dont know of the affects of useing ferts they are supposed to be unhealthy for shrimp i never needed to use fertalizer and probably wont because i hate adding stuff to my tank apart from new fish shrimp or plants maby some rocks ornaments new water and food. i hate adding chemicals to my tank including treatments for dieseases or parasites.

im shure you can have a nicely planted tank without the fertalizer.people dont go around dumping fertalizer on them in the wild. if you look at what badflash said
"Lose the C02 & the ferts, or lose the shrimp. Ferts in general are bad for any shrimp. If you want to use C02, get an acid loving shimp. See the shrimp varieties page." so you can still have both just need to make some compramises anyway im a bit hungry so ill have a late breakfast :D

i will post all the caracterization of the water, the house one and the fountain one...
In each fountain there is a table with the composition of the water...

I can choose bettewen home water and fountain (i think is not better than fountain water)...For example fontain water is sterilized with UV..

What kind of water do you use?R/O?
bye

i just use water from my cold water tap and add the rite amount of Tapsafe (neutralises heavy mettals and chlorine, protects against wounds,abrasions,infection and reduces stress) and sometimes some stuff to ajust the ph as my ph drops after my water changes and my ram (dwarf cichilid) starts to look ill i need to bring the ph up a little.

what is a "water tap"?The water coming from your hydric net?

Anyway..i've just measured my pH,GH,KH values of water in the tank of the red cherry /the one in photo)..

pH=7.5
GH=9
KH=5

are they ok for cherries??

I don't use any fertilizer and I have several heavily planted tanks .Java fern does well. I also have java moss and Christmas moss and peacock moss. They all grow so much I have to remove some . It gets so thick even the shrimp have trouble getting thru it.
:-D
I also have moss balls.

In another tank I have Anubias Frazeri and several other plants too. You should be able to grow lots of things without using fertilizer.
