Shrimp products

Those are what I gave to the shrimps.

I have an advisory for people in the USA. One of these product or similar one is formulated for water that has basically NO calcium in there, no kh, no mg. If dose per instructions and you have high calcium, and you have kh above 3 your ph will go high putting in risk your CRS. Been there, done that and would not like this to happen to anyone.

I am not saying the products are not good, but you might not need it because of the minerals in your water.

The food is very good and the shrimp go crazy for it.

I have to agree with Pedro on this one. I believe USA water supply has mostly some sort of minerals (calcium, magnesium, and etc.) in it already. I have tested them in the past as well, and it will buffer your pH quiet high. If your water supply has plenty of minerals, then it is not necessary to use this. If you have little minerals, then just a pin-point amount is more than enough for 20 gallon tank. The food though is great. The shrimps go crazy over it in less than 30 seconds.

The "Strange Powder" is mostly calcium carbonate. It is not needed in many tanks in the US, and could be harmfull. The "source of micro-orginisims" is a powder based food ment to feed micro-orginisims and increase their numbers greatly. The shrimp then feed on these micro-orginisims.

The food, from all acounts seems to be pretty good.

I personally do not believe in these products. The white powder, as was mentioned, is useless. The "micro-organism powder" is not needed as the fish food that you give your shrimp already feeds the micro-organisms along with the leaf litter that you (hopefully) have in your tank. The shrimp might like the "special" CRS food, but they also swarm to fish food that I give them.

I'm sure the food is good and the shrimp like it, but we are keeping opportunistic detrivores and algae eaters here. They'll eat just about anything edible and be thrilled with it. As long as we select quality foods, our shrimp are going to be happy even if we don't feed them magical mystery powders from across the globe.

If I could walk into my local store and buy the food for the same price as the other very high quality foods I use, I'd probably try some of it.

I just know these three products are very expensive in my country. In fact, my shrimps are not picky, but I find that they love food for corydorus the most.

Of course the water conditions in Hong Kong may allow these products to work even better for you. Do you know if you have softer water in your area? I am just curious

When there are people out there who'll pay $30 for one tiny shrimp, sellers quickly realize they'll probably pay a lot for products for shrimp too, whether those products are necessary or not.

A) calcium carbonate isn't soluble in neutral pH water.
B) Most tap water contains adequate (or excessive) mineral sfor shrimp anyway.
C) I wouoldn't buy anything from Asia packaged in plastic or paper for my own consumption, or for sensitive organisms. I work in customs and you wouldn't believe the amount of cross contamination on Asian shipped goods.
