my newest shrimp tank (56k warning)

Post by Mordaki »

Hii finally got my new shrimp tank set up its been running for a few weeks now with just amano shrimp in it and no deaths yet so i started to get some others.
so far i have,
a few amano shrimp about 14(not shure how many as i cant see behind my tank and some like to hide alot).
1 mountain shrimp (will be going in a bigger tank soon).
about 10 or more cherry's.
1-3 CRS that i got with my cherries charged me same price as cherries aswell so i was a happy bunny :-D ) .
and today i got 20 green shrimp i ordered online (they came verry well packed and besides being a little stressed were supprisingly healthy some even quite coloured concidering being in transit for about a day)
if your intrested in the fis in there :-)
also got some endlers, neon tetras and glowlight tetras :D (had a crown tailed betta aswell while i was waiting for its home to cycle it diddnt even notice the shrimp lol )
Apart from the amano and mountain shrimp i had to get the others ordered in specially for me, unfortunatly all my CRS died in transit to my lfs so they sold me the 1-3 CRS and about 10 cherries they had in thair display tank and charged me the same price as cherries so i was a bit happier.
anyway some pics for you all :-D
(excuse the pic quality as they were taken on my mobile phone so some arent too great :( )

yeah there is some fish shop that sells the plants for verry cheap(like 1/3of the normal price) where i live and they dont use chemicals on thair plants but thair attiude stinks, so i dont like going there had some other plants but they got shredded a bit so i got a load of grasses :D. problem with still living with my pareants is that i cant have a big tank got a structual guy coming out to the house this week so gonna see what the largest tank i can safley have is hopefully i can get a 2 footer or bigger in my bedroom so i can get alot more shrimp :D

i was bitten a long time ago just i work 12 hour shifts so i havent been on this site in ages :( ,and had to stop keeping shrimp because i got a tank for cichlids then realised i had 2 other tanks that i could set up and then bought a small 35 litre one wich has just cycled and im going to put some shrimp in that one aswell :) so i will have three small 30-40 litre shrimp tanks  and my cichlid tank wich dosnt/wont have shrimp in. Only problem is the area of the uk i live in to get any types of shrimp other than mountain shrimp and amano shrimp you either have to be verry lucky or get a special order don't know what its like in other parts of the uk tho maby im just unlucky

yeah think the uk is a bit behind on the "shrimp scene" lol i sometimes see some stuff used to have a african vampire i found in a garden centers pet department, but the thing i allways ask them is
"do your amano shrimp sell well?"
to wich they normally reply
"yes they do"
then i allways say
"so if you are selling the amano shrimp so well why not get in other types as you can get more colourfull ones that would probably sell alot better"
then they say they dont know lol.
the wierd thing is all the lfs where i live couldnt get in anything i wanted so i asked by the pet department in a garden center if they done special orders and they do but they wont order in other shrimp to sell to he public(apart from special order) yet they will sell ghost knife fish and other sillly fish that either grow large or are verry agressive or both... . guess us people in the uk will need to wait till more types of shrimp start becoming more available

Great, so congrats may be in order. I hope it is good news for you and your growing shrimp pop. :-D

by the way I looked at your pictures again and I noticed you have a piece of metal wire next to the wood. What is this for?
