This shrimp got fungus?

Post by wskurdahl »

Is this some sort of fungus on my bumblebee? The shrimp seems quite active and was moving around the tank a bit as I snapped the pictures

Wow, that is interesting  Did you find anything else in the tank with this green growth (fungus?) on it? It seems to have a growth like texture to it as fungus would but we can't be sure unless there is more evidence/analysis. We have seen other shrimp with fungus growing on the shells and they return to normal after they molt :-D Keep an eye on your shrimp and please let us know if this is the same case here.

This is very, very bizarre. I have never seen such growth on a shrimp before. Does the shrimp still have this growth or did it disappear after a molt?

as of a week ago it still had it. I decided to just remove the shrimp to be safe (removed to trashcan  ). A few days ago I saw another one with the same thing on it. I didn't want to kill another one so I put it in another tank that currently has no shrimp (heavily planet, IE dosing, CO2, and fish though) so we will see how it does in there. I will have to check to see if there are anymore like that in there.
