What to do with scud ?

Post by thgng »

My shrimp tank are over-populated with scud.
They are competing with baby shrimp for food.

There are no fish in the tank execpt an oto.
Without a natural predator, the scud population are out of control...

Can anyone recommend a solution ?
Does anyone know any fish out there that love to eat scud ?
Is scud another source of food for fish-breeding ?

Well these aren't the modified missles launched by Iraq during the Kuwait war, these are some heavily armoured invertebrates. To see more about them go here

Fish love scuds--but they also love baby shrimp. Scuds eat pretty much the same things as other shrimp so you can't starve them. Trying to catch them will be impossible. Can't think of any way to get rid of only the scuds without also destroying your other shrimp.

you could try kuhli loaches as they will chow down on the scuds and any small snails in the tank. But your best bet is to catch about 10 shrimp and start a new tank. Let a few dwarf cichlids decimate the pest population then restock with your shrimp.
