Sorry "Cro", but almost all of the information on that website is nonsense. I don't even want to begin to point all of it out....If you didn't notice...that picture is of a "ninja shrimp" but they sell bumblebees with it. Same applies to the "Rainbow Shrimp". They look *nothing* like the picture they have up, which I know *for sure* is of a bluish Neocaridina denticulata sinensis type of shrimp from China (I know the guy who took the pic...he's German).
I would not recommend taking any information from that page and treating it as the "truth."
The coloration on bumblebee shrimp males and females is pretty much the same. The "reddish" ones are probably about to die. You can tell the sex just like with any other algae eating shrimp once the animals have become mature. The carapace of the female hands down a lot further to be able to hold the eggs. It's very easy actually. You will also see the brownish ovaries as a "spot" around the neck on the females if you look closely.
