How To Safely Transfer Opae To Bigger Tank?

Post by LTE »

Does anyone have some step-by-step instructions for moving opae from a very small tank to a larger one? Mine currently are in a 7x7x3 glass block. I started with nine opae, but in the past six months or so they have had three sets of babies. So there are now between 20-30 opae of various sizes, including some quite tiny ones. The adults seem to be content and healthy because they keep reproducing (in fact one currently is carrying a few eggs) but, at some point soon, it seems like the group will outgrow the little glass block. Any information on how to safely transfer them to a bigger tank would be much appreciated.

What is the volume of that glass block? Half gallon? Add some pictures. What size tank are you putting them in? They could be gently poured into the new cycled tank. Less stressful then netting them.

I'd be interested in pictures of your small tank, too. :D
