endlers and supershrimp together?

Post by rustoleum87 »

I found this website by accident and got interested in the supershrimp among other things. I have done some searching and found that endlers do well in brackish and even marine water. The question is can I keep these two together or am I asking for trouble? I found something about this in the articles but that only mentioned freshwater shrimp and much bigger fish. With the size of the endlers, I don't think them eating the shrimp will be a problem. Love to get yalls input before I create a problem.

These shrimp are really, really small. Most of them are 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Even if Endlers don't harass eat them outright (which they still may), they may simply harass them so much that you'll never see your shrimp. Plus, you'll never get to see reproduction as the shrimp larvae will simply be eaten by your fish. If you want a successful shrimp/Endler tank, go for something like the Red Cherry Shrimp and *lots* of moss or Suesswassertang covering at least a quarter to half of the tank bottom. When the shrimp have hiding spaces they come out more (because they feel more secure) and their babies can grow up in those hiding spaces.

Thanks for the advice. I may try that out. I have a 5.5g and a 60g that I'm trying to decide what to do with.

+1 for cherries (RCS) with the Endlers instead. I have lots of RCS in my Endler tank. The Endlers never seem to harass the shrimp, but it is heavily planted. I may or may not get RCS offspring someday, but that is not my goal. I am happy with the number that I have stocked. I dont have supershrimp (yet) but from what I have read they may be a bit more fragile than RCS. If you have a goal of breeding your shrimp, then you pretty much have to have zero fish.

5.5g - Perfect size for endlers or shrimp. 60g - of course you can use this too but the max size of Endlers and/or dwarf shrimp does not complement a tank of this size as well, especially if they are to be the "centerpieces" to be viewed. (However if you want to breed... Endlers, RCS or supershrimp will reproduce like crazy in a 60g if given the right conditions and some patience - none of them need anything special)
