Supershrimp suggestions

Post by mcjanice »

Hello- I am writing this for some help with my Opae ullu shrimp. I had a massive stroke four years ago. My left arm is still paralyzed but I am in an apartment with no pets so I bought a Shrimp Bubble online(I know, very bad) I have had several large aquariums and from the description thought it sounded wonderful.I knew I couldn't handle taking care of a large aquarium, I thought this sounded like a great solution . I am craving pets desperately.I discovered this website, hope you can give me some easy suggestions,My poor little shrimp are dying one by one. I need a small container so I can move it easily.if I have to. Any suggestions as to how small I can safely go? Also it is quite cold here so I might have to wait until spring. :( thanks!

These shrimp will make ideal pets for you. They are easy undemanding pets. You might try a glass floral vase. One with a wider bottom and a tapered neck which flares out at the top. The tapered neck and the flared opening will give you an area of the container which you can grasp with one hand should you need to move it. The clear glass will provide for viewing. The tapered top will allow for air exchange with minimal evaporation. This type of vase comes in a variety of sizes. Pick the largest you feel comfortable moving with one hand. Hobby and craft stores carry them and often, they publish 50% off coupons which results in a nice shrimp home for just a few bucks.

Thanks, I will try that. I am wondering does it hurt them at all if you do have to move them . I try not to swirl the water.

They'll be fine if you follow the instructions on Petshrimp.com.

I wouldn't swirl the water but I had to liberate mine from an Ecosphere (bubble) and they ended up getting a little bit shaken and stirred. The best part was seeing them swim around in the new tank. It's almost as if they fly. So difficult to take my eyes off of them. You should definitely set up a tank its been so much fun. I'm only 24 but I work two jobs and go to school full time. If you wanted an undemanding pet, you definitely came to the right place. My sister has a puppy and I couldn't even imagine a responsibility of that magnitude in my current conditions.
