Red Cherry Shrimps with Ghost Shrimps

Post by Vlad »

hi all,

Do Ghost Shrimps prey on Red Cherry Shrimps? My RC tank is nearly overflowing and I was contemplating putting some into a 20 gal tank that has 4 ghosts in there already. I don't want to cause shrimp carnage, and have always heard that the Ghosts are docile but wanted to check with the experts here before risking anything.

Thank you for any information, and for the great site. :)

Sincerely,

Vlad

They will be fine together although the ghost shrimp might snatch a hatchling or two here and there, especially if you do not have enough hiding places.

Thank you Mustafa! I appreciate the information. Since many of the RC's are laden with eggs, I guess I will move the ghost shrimp to another tank before putting some Red Cherries in that tank.

Sincerely,

Vlad

I've had Ghost and Cherry's together for 4 months now and have not had any problems.

depends on how large the ghost shrimp are... I've seen some huge ones and the ghost shrimp are more carnivorous (for lack of a better word) than other small shrimp species. They eat just about anything, including smaller baby cherry shrimp... so I don't mix them but I'm glad to hear they work out for other people
