Some observations looking through a magnifier glass

Post by JoeG »

While I was watching my 14 larvae bobbing around the tank using my magnifier glass I saw a few things that I had not seen before. First I saw a female shrimp with the distended swimmerets/puffed out abdomen. There was some commotion around her and I’m sure she will be berried soon. Secondly, this same female instead of having the saddle of eggs just behind the head her eggs were showing a long way down her back, like in a line single file (I’m thinking they are on their way to her swimmerets). And lastly I saw a shrimp actually riding atop another shrimp. I have seen the shrimp doing loop to loops but never saw them physically touch another shrimp. Just a few observations of things that I have never seen in the 1 year 9 months having these guys. It’s something how you see things when you are really looking closely (magnifier glass). :)

New berried shrimp today with a lot of eggs. I’m thinking it was last nights female with the distended swimmerets/puffed out abdomen. There’s no way to know for sure, but it definitely looked like she was getting ready for the event last night. :D
