I’ve had a thriving tank for the past 5 years in a fluval edge 6 gallon. Probably about two years in I switched from 21 LEDs (original amount for a 6 gallon) to a 42 LED lamp (meant for the taller 12 gallon fluval) because it was nice and bright. However over time the snails seemed to die off (I saw one the other day might be the only one) and the rock in the middle under the light got this white/brown stuff all over the rock. . Do you think the more intense more LED lights is causing the white on the rock? And if yes, what is it?
Hi! Not sure what white/brown stuff you're talking about but what is very apparent is that there appears to be a nutrient overload in your tank. It looks like you won't have to feed for years actually. Light alone cannot grow anything, so if there is anything "strange" growing suddenly it's because there are nutrients that are utilized by algae/bacteria along with the light to create biomass.
I feed maybe once a month or longer if I remember. I feed 2-3 rice grain sizes of spirulina pellets. I had the light on for a long time for 12 hours but reduced to 10 hours
I don’t know. I bought a moss ball, shrimp, and snails from Mustafa. Only other things I’ve put in is rocks, coral, and spirulina pellets for food. I’ve never cleaned the algae out the past 5 years and it’s taken it that long to grow to it’s current size. Very slow growing.
Looks like the Supershrimp mossballs you bought from here have covered the entire bottom of your tank and even attached themselves to your rocks! Awesome! If you ever get to clean the front glass, do me a favor and post another shot of your mossballs so we can literally get a clear picture.

Mustafa, here are those pictures over a year later.
