Black Aragonite Sand

Post by Wippy »

I am looking to upgrade my shrimp from a 10 gallon aquarium to a 65gallon I recently took down from a planted tropical. All I have been able to find is Live black Aragonite in my area and having trouble finding anything online. I set up My 10 Gallon with Crushed coral and I am not liking the substrate. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could order some dry black Aragonite online?

From everything I’ve read you want to avoid live sand. It will cause ammonia spikes.

Yes, but it can be rinsed thoroughly in very hot tap water to kill most of the bacteria. I'd think that would do the trick.

Always thoroughly wash live sand. More than likely the live bacteria that it offers is more than likely dead. You never know & the "live" part is not required.
