How to rescape a tank full with shrimps?

Hi,

Normally I just setup a tank. Then let the shrimps there. They will breeding and breeding. I never thinking of rescape the tank. But I saw my dwarf vallisneria over grown. And hairgrass are not growing well due to the vallisneria covering most of the place.

I am thinking of recaping my 2x2x1.5ft tank which full of shrimps. There are more than 150 shrimps in there. From the baby shrimp to adult. Cherry, blue, tiger, bee, yamato... It is gonna headache to me to catch the shrimp out one by one and rescape the tank.

Anyone can advise how to rescape the tank without disturbing the shrimp?

Easy, just get rid of the vallisineria. Did you just wanna keep the hairgrass or do something totally different?
If, thats not the point, then get rid of everything carefully, shake all plants to ensure all shrimps don't come out with the plants. If you have driftwood, just leave it and scape around it. Shrimps just love the DW. Hope this helps.

Hi Erirku,

Thank you for sharing. I am thinking of 100% rescaping. The tank look messy. But look like all the shrimps living and breeding happy in there. I just found I have my 4th batch of cherry shrimplets last night.

Perhaps, I have to let it be and get another tank up for them.

I am having 10 aquariums at my condo. From 6 footer to 8 inch nano. I think my brother going to complain again. Since my living and dining room full of tanks.

Even now and than i have to give one off my shrimptanks a real good cleaning. In my red cherry tank are at least 600 shrimps (they're doing realy well

) in all sorts of sizes. I just take a couple off hours and catch them all out. Yes, that's a lot of work but it can be done. Just take out all the plants and other things, lower the water level and start catching

Not sure how well this would work, but if there's a special treat your shrimp will swarm onto after awhile, then you could use it as bait then capture them by bulk in a less turbulent way than chasing them around with a net. But it would have to be something they'll congregate on; not grab and swim away with. Like a spinach leaf weighed down by a marble or something. Set the bait inside a jar or other container, and when the shrimp gather on the bait, cover the container and lift it out of the tank

By repeating or setting multiple traps, you might be able to get almost all of them without having to tear the place apart.
Eh, don't know how neatly that would work. Just a thought.
