Hi all. I have two Bamboo Shrimp is a 20 gallon tall with 5 endlers. This group has been together for 8 months. The tank is planted and filtered with a small power head with a sponge attached to the intakes.

This morning one of my Bamboo Shrimp was covered with brown stuff on the front of his body. It looks like a brown algea but I'm not sure. He is stressed by this cause his fans are retracted and he is just sitting on the bottom of the tank. He is usually very active.

Any ideas??

Thank you.

Okay, so I feel stupid. He was molting. He would never molt out in the open. This time he was right out in front and I could see him. He is okay.

Hi Michael, welcome to the forum. :)

Glad things turned out okay and that the reduced activity was due to a molt. I too have freaked out when they've seemed listless, only to have it turn out that the reason is for a molt.

If you haven't already, please check out "Bamboo Shrimp And Pics" viewtopic.php?t=800 There's a discussion towards the end about molting that's sort of interesting.
