Shrimps and plant fertilizer (PMDD)

Post by tiberon »

Since the shrimps are sensitive to metals and polutants in the water is it possible to use PMDD and other plant futilizers? The micro nutrients are including mainly iron but also cupper.

I'm thinking of a aquascaping prodject with a tank size of about 8 gallons. Lots of plants and shrimps.

My experience is that this should not cause any problems if
  1. Your plants are healthy and actively growing,
  2. You are adding the nutrients in appropriate levels for your plants.
Much is made of invertibrates sensitivity to heavy metals, but it is often over stated. Copper, in high doses, is deadly. However, it is also necessary for life, even in shrimp.
