Re: Finally

Hi, forgot to mention temp which normally hovers slightly above 28 C in my tank. Can I ask if for your temp where the berried sri lanka's are kept?

I'v been seriously considering putting at least a fan on it to get the temp down slightly.

THanks!

I'm not sure (sorry to say) - as I have not been out in the jungle trek trails for a looooong time ... if I ever do go hiking along the streams I promise (in fact 'I Swear!') I'll be on the lookout for them!

Re: New Orange shrimp purchase

That's interesting information. I also heard about an orange shrimp from Sulawesi (Celebes). The problem is not that we can't breed this shrimp. The problem is that there are almost never any males in the shipments of these shrimp from Indonesia. I found a male before but it died before it could be...

Re: Malaya Larvae

Its irony that here in Malaysia if you go to a LFS you see Bee, Tiger, Green, Cherry, Crystal etc but no Malaya! :-)

I accidentally got 2 of these fellas in my bag when getting some Cherries, we thought they were male Cherries in the LFS tank ... went back for more that there are none.

Re: New Orange shrimp purchase

1. All the orange shrimp on the market right now are the same species. 2. Whoever that seller is must be lying about breeding these shrimp as these shrimp produce saltwater larvae (saganco: but the shrimp themselves live in freshwater...you should read up on this as it's common in shrimp). Nobody h...

Re: Lemon leaf with shrimps??

serafin: I live in Malaysia - what I did after reading Mustaffa's recommendation of leaf litter - and from my personal observations of streams in my country I tend to agree with him on his assessment of the majority of enviroment for shrimp, all I did was go out into my garden and pick up some dried...

Re:

I thought I implied above that I am going to give reliable differences in the future. That's not because I am holding anything back, but because I am trying to find features that are easily recognizable to most people. Since I have seen so many bumblebees and bee shrimp it's like telling the differ...

Re: Trip to the springs!

... unfortunately with the price of development many of these streams ecosystems have been upset. That is really bad news. So the streams there are being polluted and destroyed? If you have a chance try to take a day to visit one and see if what you can find, maybe you can save some shrimp and bree...

Re: Trip to the springs!

Finally found time to take a trip to the springs, took samples of the water and rocks too. According to my preliminary diagnostics, I estimate the rocks are mostly composed of CaCO3, precise tests will be taken later to prove this. Found lots of shrimp (pics), no need for too much explanation! :-D ...
