What exactly do they eat?
I know they eat the biofilm on things in the tank, as well as any algae growing on the glass. Do they actually eat the macro algae/cheatomorpha? Or is it just for the purpose of absorbing nitrates?

Re: BABIES!!!
They were big enough to take pictures today. Barely Lol. I sat and watched one of them pick stuff off the side of the glass to eat. I was wondering how they did it.

How are your guys doing now?
I would make sure that the tank is out of reach or has a hard to remove lid.

Re: Stringy Algae?
It looks to me to be cyanobacteria. It happens in new tanks but usually resolves itself.

Re: A year later and no babies.
Nitrates should not be at 0. There should be at least a little to feed the algae and keep it growing. If your algae growth is constant then you have a perfectly balanced system which is rare. The tank has been established for a year. The algae growth was slow but constant, until I moved the tank ne...

Re: A year later and no babies.
Not really. Like I said, I only ever saw one berried shrimp. I have seen 3 different ones with saddles, but they just disappear and never produce eggs. I have 7 total. I’ve just ordered 13 more to make it an even 20. 2.5 gallon tank.

A year later and no babies.
I’ve had my tank for about a year. Great algae growth and have not given supplemental feeding in months. Everyone appears to be happy and healthy. In all that time though, I’ve seen one berried shrimp and she dropped all of her eggs in a couple of days. Why aren’t my guys breeding? Salinity 1.011 Am...

Very strange. It looks like a bacterial infection to me. Might want to dose some medication to be on the safe side. A good place to start would be a sulfa drug.

Bubbles in my tank?
I've had my little guys for almost a year now. I moved them to a window with indirect sunlight about a month ago. Several days ago I notices a few bubbles forming in amongst the algae. Today, there are bubbles everywhere, including microbubbles all over the substrate! What could be causing this?

First Timer!
Hi everyone! I just received my shrimp, snails and algae yesterday and everyone is happy in their new home! I will definitely be having to get more though because only a single order looks SUPER tiny in a huge 5 gallon tank. Solution: more shrimps! My snails are burrowing in the sand substrate and d...
