Male Asian filter shrimp fighting my African Filter Shrimp

Hi all, has anyone seen this before and have any suggestions as to how to stop it? My male Asian Filter Shrimp keeps attacking my African Filter Shrimp who is a little smaller than he is. The Asian one uses his large powerful front legs to trample and attack the African one. The African one is rathe...

Oh dear, my new giant male shrimp, the orange one, shed last night only a couple of hours after going in the tank. I've only just noticed he seems to have lost his front right big leg!! He is now just hiding in the top corner of my tank and not moving or feeding. The smaller one seems fine and wande...

Oh here's a thought, they won't bother the smaller, presumably female tank mates will they? They've seemed fine so far, but it's only been a couple of hours...

OK, so there isn't a tank section, not sure where I thought I was... :D Here is my tank, I think it's a about 80L http://adrian.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/tank.jpg I can't get very good closeups because my digital camera does not have a manual focus and just takes crisp clear photos of the glass with blur...

Thanks for the replies!! The big orange one is 3" or 8cm long. The white/grey one (you can just see his face) is a bit smaller. I currently keep two other Asian Filter shrimps and two Amanos and have had shrimps previously, I have two pumps to provide a current and plenty of climbing and hiding...

OK, they're not black, but what are they?

So I went back to my LFS to try and get some black Asian Filter shrimps, but they hadn't got any with their new delivery :( But I bought these guys instead, I think they are just really huge Asian Filter shrimp, am I right? They have much larger front legs than any other i've seen, larger than other...

Yes you are right, I should have said 'Asian Filter Shrimp'. They'd gone anyway when I went there, never mind! If I see anymore i'll get them and try and post a photo.

A black mountain shrimp?

I saw some mountain / rock shrimp in an LFS the other day, but instead of being an unhappy brown, or happy red with white stripe, they were black, with a slightly dull white stripe - are they rare? I am tempted to buy them because i've never seen any like it before, assuming they are still there!! C...

I don't use it for removing snails, however it reckon this would work for small snails. It's a piece of normal clear tubing cable tied to an air rifle cleaning rod (any metal stick would do) with a syringe fitted to the end and cable tied to the loop on the end of the rod. It can reach all areas of ...

Well today I thought he had died, seeing what I thought was a dead shrimp under the wood which was quite a sad sight, then I looked closer and it didn't look right. I looked round the back of the wood by the filter inlet and there was my shrimp!! He later retired into his hole like normal and hid - ...

I think my shrimp is ill?

Hi all, hope someone can shed some light on whats up with my shrimp. It's a cameroon fan shrimp or giant african fan shrimp, it's kept in a comminuty tank with guppies, neons, an ancistrus and a tiny dwarf frog. Up until now (3 months ish) he's been fine, coming out at night time from his hole in a ...
