Re: New tank mate
I’m having trouble posting the picture, it is a red claw crab that I added to the Opae tank.

Re: I need help
I’m not 100% sure but I added some moss balls to my tank and they started to appear soon after.

Re: I need help
Hi, I had a similar problem recently with copods . I literally had tens of thousands in my 65 gallon Opae tank. I had to skim the surface of the tank with a small fine mesh net. It took a little over month for me to get all of them. It was very time consuming because I had baby Opae floating around,...

Re: Copepod invasion.
Don't add any food to the tank, at least until the copepods are gone or nearly gone. Over time (and it may take a long time) the copepods will die off as the shrimp outcompete them and can survive off more limited resources. The shrimp will eat the dead ones too. If you want to directly reduce the ...

Copepod invasion.
My tank has been overrun by a tiny shrimp, I believe they are called tig pods. There are literally thousands of them in my Opae tank, at first I didn’t mind but now they are constantly bumping into the Opae and I believe they are becoming stressed because of it. I enclosed a picture of them. Has any...

Re: Somebody Molted
That’s a lot of molts all at once, that tank seems very healthy. How long did it take for the algae to become vibrant green like that?

Anyone else using a surface skimmer?
I just purchased a mini surface skimmer. The surface of my tank was getting completely covered with bio film and algae, and preventing the led lights from illuminating the tank. I run it for about one hour every other day and it works great. I have noticed that since more light is getting in that th...

Re: Newbie with 65 gallon opae tank
Do the Lohena also start out in a larval stage after hatching? They kind of look like mini lobsters to me rather than shrimp. Yes, the Lohena start out in the larvae state just like the Opae do. They float head down with a small egg sack. I have many berried Lohena but only seen the larvae one time...

Re: Newbie with 65 gallon opae tank
That's pretty cool. The size of your tank provides a large area to roam. My ML are in a 10 gallon and they hunt down all the live prey I feed them. Come morning they nothing left. If you can get the babies to survive in there that's awesome. Have you seen any Baby Lohena in your tank yet, and if so...
