Alright, I have had my Filter-Max #3 for a while now and it works great. Not a single shrimp has managed to get into my filter (and two of 'em have bellies full of eggs now, but that's besides the point, just very exciting!) The thing is, without the original intake piece of the fluval attached you ...

Re: Frogs eating Shrimp??
Hi Mustafa - I just recently purchased 10 of your Red Cherry Shrimp and can only seem to find one left in the tank. I went through the acclimation process and everything seemed A-ok... I do have 2 dwarf african frogs in my 30 gallon tank along with some feeder guppies - Is it possible that the frog...

All right, my Filter-Max #3 came in. This thing is much bigger than I thought it would be. That is great, as the chances of it clogging will be equally much smaller. The intake tube of the Fluval 304 fits snuggly in one of the adapter pieces that comes with the Filter-Max and it all hooks up with mi...

An acquaintance of mine has cherry shrimp and despite her prefilter the shrimp still end up inside her filter. Amazing, huh? She doesn't seem to mind because it makes it easy to gather shrimp to pack up and sell :) Now that would suck (no pun intended). I will let y'all know if the prefilter I boug...

Again, thanx so much to everyone for offering assistance in this thread. I really appreciate it. After doing more research on other forums using search terms like Fluval and pre-filter I found that people with Fluval's seem to use those Filter-Max #3 filters straight out of the box with great succes...

TKD, I read your solution before, but I can't quite envision what it is you are doing. Badflash, there is two reasons why your method wouldn't work as well for me. First off, it would require me to break down my tank which I do not want to do. Second, I have a corner tank with a bow front. Undergrav...

I can speak for that. I live in Northern New Hampshire, my shrimp where left by the mail guy on my (open) front porch in the freezing cold for almost the entire day before someone got home and discovered them (they were left in the morning, they were discovered a little after 3) and they were ABSOLU...

I like the undergravel filter option. Unfortunately, I do not have an undergravel filter set up and it would require me to break down the current tank, which I don't much feel like doing at all. I am really thinking a pre-filter sponge would do the trick, but I do not know how to make one or where t...

New shrimp, sucked up in my Fluval 304
I ordered 10 red cherry shrimp from Mustafa. My tank is a 36 gallon corner tank with a Fluval 304 canister filter. I never gave it much thought (I should have) but all of a sudden I don't see any shrimp anymore. I got suspicious and opened up the canister, and there they all were. They seemed to be ...
