Shrimp from Germany ?

Post by Newjohn »

I am wondering.

Is it legal to ship Shrimp into the US from Germany ?
Or, do you need a importing license ?

I know a few people in Germany that ship crays & shrimp into the US weekly without any special permits being used. They ship airmail. Now that could be illegal so I can't really answer your question on legalities.

It depends...

If they lie on the contents, it is illegal. If you get caught, you will be fined a couple thousand dollars.

If they put down the actual contents in the shipping document, it will be legal. Most carriers can take care of the inspection and custom for you.

(for restricted animals, you need to get a permit for that shipment)

(for US banned animals, for example, asian arrowana, it is BANned)
