Re: is it ok to have the sponge filter as the ONLY filter?
Yes it is fine to have sponge filters as the only filter. Almost all my shrimp tanks are run solely on sponge filters.

Re: Bumble Bees on AB
I got my bumblebee shrimp from this source several months ago as part of a group order with a local plant club. Of the 200 or so we ordered only 5 or 10 were DOA, however as Mustafa has warned with wild caught species there has been a slow dieoff. I currently only have 10 or so left and some are bab...

Minami or wild Neocaridina?
So over a year ago I bought some "yellow shrimp." Later the seller told me they were "Manami" shrimp. I am guessing they are a wild species, maybe neocaridina? I finally got some decent pictures of them after practicing my photography skills and was hoping someone (Mustafa maybe ...

Whiteback Shrimp?
So I got some shrimp from aquabid that were IDed as Whiteback shrimp. I heard that they are suppose to breed in freshwater but I noticed a berried female the other day and it has really small eggs. I am not sure what I have is actually whitebacks and I was hoping someone could help me. http://i104.p...

Tiger Shrimp with Stripe on Back
Some of my tiger shrimp have stripes down their backs like you see in some neocaridina species. Just wanted to know if anyone else has seen this before.

Re: Tank set up & unknown shrimp ID
If they aren't bumblebee shrimp they are regular bee's. Someone else I know got those also and the ones that showed up alive looked like Bees. The picture they are currently using is of a Sulawesi shrimp (not their own picture either). Previously they were using a stolen picture from highfins in Chi...

Re: How do I hatch out the shrimp's eggs?
Don't try to take the eggs off the mother, its really hard to do. They are attached with this jelly like stuff that is very difficult to get off even if the shrimp is dead . If the eggs are dropped they are probably not fertile or something else was wrong with them. Just relax and let nature take it...

Re: This shrimp got fungus?
as of a week ago it still had it. I decided to just remove the shrimp to be safe (removed to trashcan  ). A few days ago I saw another one with the same thing on it. I didn't want to kill another one so I put it in another tank that currently has no shrimp (heavily planet, IE dosing, CO2, and f...

This shrimp got fungus?
Is this some sort of fungus on my bumblebee? The shrimp seems quite active and was moving around the tank a bit as I snapped the pictures http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m195/oblongshrimp/DSC_0610.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m195/oblongshrimp/DSC_0611.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Looking for shrimp safe antifungal
I guess I didn't mention it but I am looking for an antifungal only to use when trying to artificially hatch the eggs with the mother dies. I am using a airpump and airline to move the water (and eggs) around but I want something to combat the fungus that usually grows on the eggs. Most likely the f...

I am looking at medications for sale here as I will be ordering some other stuff http://kensfish.com/medicationfungal.html METHYLENE BLUE - this looks promising because I know its so commonly used but not sure abou...
