Looks like remnanta of moss ball. Could be some macroalgae that tagged along if you got shrimp from Mustafa.

Agreed with Mrs T. Just put a covering on it. You can just seal it so things don't get in. My tank has a cover with some openings I just covered them up.

Nope, I've had bubbles because of my lava rock and ohko/dragon stones and they've not phased any of the shrimp. Shouldn't be worried at all.

Well from that last photo you can be sure that you'll be seeing larva soon, just a few days at most now. I with varanus, I don't believe your snails would cause that much disturbance. I haven't had issues with them with my decor.
